The Winter War Between Russia and Finland

This page primarily covers the Winter War between Russia and Finland that began when Russia invaded Finland on November 30, 1939 and ended with a temporary peace treaty on March 13, 1940.    There will also be some material covering the Continuation War between them that lasted from June 22, 1941 to September 19, 1944.

There are counters already available on the Imaginative Strategist website as well as an excellent article by Byron Henderson covering them and giving some history of the event.  There are also some counters and info available on my 1941 Russia page.

To complete this early campaign, I present an excellent article on the conflict by Alan Arvold, complete with more new counters, details on each of the units needed for the Winter War, and 10 scenarios, updated by Alan from an article by Michael Bennighof in Issue #21 of the Grenadier magazine many years ago.

October, 2015 update:  Alan has updated his article.  There are new Russian ski units added and most scenarios have been revised.
